Business Coach Or Business Consultant?

Business coaches and business consultants are both skilled, trained professionals that help to achieve goals for your business. They work with one person or with a group of people within your organization toward your common goals. Their focus is on problem solving, strategies and action plans. However, the coach and the consultant provide very different forms of support.

The business coach helps you to achieve goals for your business and to achieve your personal goals. He or she is a trained facilitator. The focus is to help you to achieve your biggest dreams and goals for your business and your lifestyle. The coach will provide support for your creativity and encourage your spirit of adventure. They will help you to tap into the "wisdom within." They will ask the right questions so that you can arrive at your destination via the road that is personally best for you. They help you to focus and support you to learn through action while using the process of self-discovery to fulfill your tasks, goals, and dreams. They will help you to create and talk about what will keep you motivated to move forward. They will help you to discover honest insights into things that aren't working. They encourage you, support you, applaud you and empathize with you. Once you start to reach your goals, a coach will continue to encourage you to reach further and stretch your possibilities. The focus is on developing you to your highest potential, as well as developing your business. The net result of coaching is that you create a foolproof plan for moving forward, and the coach partners with you and supports you in actualizing that plan. This creates success in your personal life and in your business.

The focus of a consultant is to get a project done that will enhance your business. He or she provides services for specific topics that are generally organizational and are looked on as an expert in their particular area of knowledge. They may provide an analysis and some recommendations for the improvement of certain processes and solutions that suggest exactly which road will be best to take to get somewhere. They may assist your company in areas such as small business marketing, web design or starting a business. After careful discussion and analysis of what results you're looking to achieve, a strong plan of action is designed to move you swiftly towards your goals. Consulting is usually businesslike and professional. They will teach you skills and bring knowledge and expertise to a challenge that may make the difference in your failure or success. They generally focus on a specific question or problem at hand and may provide a part or all of the solution for specific work for your organization. Once the destination, or goal, is reached the consultant leaves the picture unless another area of concern is identified within the organization.

90coach A common analogy to illustrate the difference between a business coach and a business consultant is that a business coach will help you understand how and why you ride a bicycle, help you to determine what's holding you back from riding properly, and jog along next to you as YOU ride.

A business consultant will explain why one bike is superior to another, teach you how to ride the bike, and if necessary, ride the bike for you. Depending on what your specific problems or what your goals are, you will be able to find a viable solution with either a business coach or a business consultant. Either one can help you to avoid the big mistakes and lead you to the accomplishment of your goals.
